LEATHER VS. PLEATHER
Leather is the reason I love the fall and winter so much. Leather on everything, I’m all for it. Leather leggings with thigh highs, leather jackets, leather shoes, leather trim anything; I love it. And the best part is, is that it doesn’t even have to be real leather if you’re not into that. Your other option would be is faux leather or “pleather” as an option for you and it looks just as great. No animals are harmed in the making of and also it can be significantly cheaper than buying real leather. Another cool thing I’m really loving is leather trimming. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but it can really make anything look that much better and more stylish and fall feeling such as pants, sweaters, and jackets.
But the best thing about leather is it easily dresses up a casual outfit. For instance, leather leggings will still look amazing with tennis shoes or casual shoes and an oversized sweater just as much as it would paired with heels, boots, or booties. Leather overall adds great edge to your style.
Leather jackets are still an essential every person needs in their wardrobe. For men, if leather jacket styles aren’t your thing, a good leather bomber jacket and spice up an outfit easily. It’s honestly kind of hard to imagine without thinking of a letterman, but here’s an example of John Legend wearing a leather bomber and looking great! Also, cropped leather bombers for women would be a great item to have and pair it with skinnies and a crop top for a more old school modern day chic feel.
A bolder leather choice I think would be to try leather joggers. Paired with a crop top or dressy tank tucked in and a pair of strappy heels would make for a cute edgy street style feel. But they not only work for women, but men as well.
For those who want to go a little more subtle on the leather, just do small strips of it on whatever you’re wearing. For example, leather patches on the elbows, a leather pocket, leather trimming on the edges of your cardigan/sweater can add so much more to whatever you are wearing and give more style for this season. Although black is definitely always a classic, you don’t have to stick to that; colors would be a great twist!
